One morning two seagulls were sitting on the roof of a tall building. They were watching the fishing boats on the sea and the people strolling along the promenade. A little seagull joined them on the roof. She suggested they all go and get some fish from the sea for their breakfast. “Ha! Ha! I’m not going to stick my head in the water. I’ve just finished styling my head feathers!” cried the first gull. She was known as the stylish seagull, with her bright red socks and a curl on her head.
The second gull, who was lazy, didn’t like the little gull’s suggestion either. “Ha! Ha! The sea’s too cold. I’d rather lie on my tummy and sunbathe.” The little gull was amazed at her suggestion being turned down. “Don’t you want any breakfast today?” she asked.
“Obviously you’re new here!”, replied the stylish seagull. “All our flock are now fish roll fans. There’s nothing tastier than rolls with fish, a creamy sauce and a salad leaf, all served in a white serviette. The fisherman’s wife will open up soon and then you can try one.” “Fish without bones and cut into beak-size bits it’s just what I need!” commented the lazy gull.
The little gull grew more amazed. “Do you have the money for it?” The other two gulls had a long laugh at this and then the stylish gull cried “Listen up! Wait for the signal to attack! Someone with a fish roll in their hand is just leaving the shop, we can attack!” All three gulls pounced on the fish roll. They were so clever in snapping the roll from the unsuspecting man that all that remained in his hands was the white serviette.
The gulls made attacks like these for days on end. Every day they grew bolder. They soon ended up as a band of thieves, except for one thing: real thieves hunt for money, the gulls were after fish rolls.
